Martin HewlettMartin Hewlitt

I am 43 and married with two sons who attend Pilton Community College. I work for South West Ambulance Services, out of the Ilfracombe ambulance station, having relocated to Devon with my family from Sussex over four years ago. I am the station's union representative.

Having practised martial arts for twenty nine years, I am an international examiner and have competed nationally. I started the Taekwon-Do school based at North Devon Leisure Centre two years ago. I also run the North Devon Paramotor Club and can often be spotted flying my paramotor on a calm morning.

After a lifelong interest in Green politics I have now decided to become a Green Party candidate in order to put my views and beliefs into practise.

Simon CliftSimon Clift

I am 46 years old, married with three children, having moved here 23 years ago from Rochdale where I was born. I am an Infant School caretaker and my main interests are sport, particularly football – I play for a team in the local league – music of all types and walking my dog. My main concerns locally are for our young people, what sort of a life awaits them, how they will be able to find work and how they are going to be able to afford to buy a home. If elected, I intend to put all my energies into working positively to meet the needs of our local community and to try and address all the different needs we have. There is a lot to do and I am looking for changes to improve our wellbeing, our environment and our quality of life.

The Green Party are fielding over 1,400 local candidates all across England in this May's local elections. We currently have 93 councillors at District level or above, and expect to gain many more seats this year.
