Having always loved the area, I moved to North Devon from Sussex in 2000, and have worked as a teacher in several local schools (including the Small School in Hartland) although my own children, now grown up and leading their own lives away from home, were mainly home educated. I am now retired, but still do some supply teaching and home tuition. I have a smallholding of 18 acres, including 6 acres of old semi-natural woodland, and an organic orchard. In 2003, with the help of a grant from the South West Forest Community Woodland scheme, I planted a further 10 acres with mixed native broadleaved trees to extend the area for wildlife and to enable others to enjoy the peace and restorative qualities of the woodland. In my 'spare' time I am a Trustee of Education Otherwise (national charity supporting home-educating parents).
The Green Party are fielding over 1,400 local candidates all across England in this May's local elections. We currently have 93 councillors at District level or above, and expect to gain many more seats this year.Your Green Party Candidates for North Devon:You may also like to visit North Devon District Council's "Candidate's Profiles" page and "Parish Candidates" page Your Green Party Candidates for Torridge:
